How Hemp Can Aid in Your Wellness

Ray Mwareya

The hemp and wellness market has just gone big. Sales of hemp-based CBD products are expected to reach a whopping $22 billion by 2022.

A lot of the wellness promise comes from CBD oil projected status as a health and wellness product where it is taken as a lifestyle oil that gives users a feeling of wellbeing, all without the “high effects” that come with CBD´s sister cannabinoid, THC.

Hemp contains little THC, the intoxicating compound that is found in marijuana in large quantities. But it is important to state that hemp oil is a broad term describing multiple oils products that come from the Cannabis sativa plant.

In case you were wondering how CBD oil which comes from the hemp plant can contribute to your wellness, read on:

1. Brain:

The fatty acid content of hemp seed oil is thought to be beneficial for brain health because human brains require a lot of healthy fat to operate efficiently.

According to research, Applying just one dose of CBD oil aids the flow of blood to a key area of the brain that is connected to memory. This is what scientists at the University College London discovered after doing a small, randomized study which they later published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology. They deployed arterial spin labeling MRI and discovered that cannabidiol tripled blood flow in the hippocampus of patients with no history of cannabis use.

This realization will accelerate research into troubling conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.

    2. Heart

The thorough nutrient properties of hemp seed oil mean it may have thrilling benefits for our heart´s health. But note: much of the scientific evidence comes from old research or those that used animal objects.

In 2014, a scientific review concluded that: an increase in alpha-linolenic acid, a key fatty acid in hemp oil appears to reduce the chances of heart disease. This fatty acid that doctors call linolenic acid is also present in fish oils and flaxseed oil.

Crucially, CBD might help you with heart arrhythmias problems. Heart arrhythmias cause the heart to beat at an irregular rate. Heart arrhythmias come in all shapes from mostly harmless to potentially risky ones that affect at least 2% of the population. None of these studies offers conclusive data, though, and standard medical remedies must not be abandoned totally in favor of CBD.

That said, preliminary studies in animals hint that CBD may be of help to people who are battling heart arrhythmia. The best approach is to ask your physician what this may mean for heart health.

      3. Acne and skin health

Skin inflammation is one troubling result of Acne. The fatty acids in hemp seed oil are thought to act to balance the skin and help block Acne. In addition, a 2014 study revealed that CBD could affect the sebum glands in people suffering from chronic Acne and thus helping prevent painful breakouts.

How CBD oil works to help with Acne can be explained through the action of the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a network of cannabinoids and cannabinoid receptors that influence most body functions. So the ECS also gathers and interprets signals from cannabinoids, like CBD.

So This activity primarily works to maintain our skin homeostasis and the formation and regeneration of skin barriers. Any disturbance in the signaling could be a triggering factor to several skin diseases conditions like acne, atopic dermatitis, pigmentation disorders, tumors, and itchiness.

        4. CBD and bacterial infection

We have bacteria all over our skin. However, those bacteria that live on our skin could contaminate the plugged follicles and cause infection.  When plugged hair follicles get inflamed with bacteria, pimples get inflamed.

Research has shown how cannabinoids, including CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), can alter disease-causing bacteria. CBD, as the studies show could also be useful in fighting treatment-resistant strains of bacteria; however, more clinical studies are needed to show efficacy.

        5. Muscle tension:

Full-spectrum hemp oil that contains CBD could improve generalized stress and discomfort associated with muscle spasms.

Research has reported CBD as having the potential for anti-inflammatory effects on our bodies which may reduce the tension that bears from accidents, hernia injuries, or exercise burnouts. The rubbing of hemp oil onto muscles may help reduce their soreness.

Over 100 million Americans live some chronic pain of some sort, says the Institute of Medicine of The National Academies. Pain wreaks havoc on the quality of life, multiplies healthcare costs, and reduces impact productivity at work.

While over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription pain medications are the first choices, many Americans go on to seek alternative remedies for chronic pain such as herbs, vitamin supplements – and CBD oil.

The main attraction of CBD oil is its ability to avoid the side effects that accompany lots of traditional healthcare medicines. As usual, if you are if you’re interested in trying CBD for chronic pain, talk to your doctor. They can help you determine if it’s right for you.

          6. Hemp and nutrition

Hemp has an interesting input on human food from protein powder to milk. This is not just a fad, but an emerging wellness foodstuff niche.

Hemp protein: Hemp protein is derived from the seed and heart of the hemp plant and is high in amino acids, protein, and omegas while also low in cholesterol and calories. Check out Anavii Hemp Heart Protein to try our great-tasting 70%+ hemp protein.

Hemp milk: This is a popular drink made from hemp seed or the hemp heart and topped up with vanilla or chocolate. The main drawcard is that hemp milk contains no dairy unlike soy, nut, or traditional cow milk.

The major nutrition benefits of hemp milk come from its rich omega fatty acids, calcium, iron, zinc, and niacin properties.

          7. Hair wellness

From face creams to lotions to body washes, hemp has a solid presence on the beauty and wellness scene today. Hemp could be a useful addition to our hair wellness and under certain circumstances may protect
or against the sun´s damage to the skin.

The beauty care industry uses the seeds or floral material of the hemp plant to extract its oils. Two types of oils come out namely, cold-pressed seed oil (which makes excellent natural skin moisturizer) and CBD extracts that go to healthcare sectors.

Essentially, the fatty acids in hemp seed oil soothe and repair skin when mixed with salves and creams.  Very importantly: the hemp plant´s seed oil carries very rare gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) which studies show has the potential to act as a natural sun blocker product, a sort of UV skin defender

Perhaps the most talked-about hemp use in the beauty industry is its effect on hair. Because it is rich in Omega 3, 6, and 9, hemp oil is high in fatty acids that are important for hair growth.

Whatever use of hemp excites you, always remember when it comes to wellness applications, seek the guidance of your doctor first before self-medicating.
